Mark was born on the 31st May 1985 and grew up in Hamilton, New Zealand.

He has always been interested in a wide range of sports including soccer, badminton, tennis and athletics and also did very well academically throughout his school years. A few years ago he even spent a year learning ceroc dancing, and recently he has discovered an interest in beach skimboarding.

Mark spends most of his time in Auckland, but also often travels to Hamilton and Whangamata between tournaments to visit family.
